FOR TODAY ONLY

I am not going to let anything get me down today. It is an absolutely gorgeous day here in Northwestern Pa. the sun is out, the birds are singing and I have a brand new bike. For today only I will not worry about things I cannot control, I will not worry about Mike's cancer, I will not worry about my son's job situation, I will not worry about my daughter and her husband buying a home, I will not worry about my husbands ckeck up, I will not worry about my test for the pheo in a few more months. Okay, okay, I may worry, can't help it, but I will not let it get me down. It seems to me that for the past few weeks, maybe even months I have not enjoyed anything very much. Today is spring! There is hope and for today Everything is fine. One day at a time! I started my day with some much needed exercise and am going to hang laundry on the line! Always a favorite of mine and sometime today I am hopping on that new bike and going for a ride. This picture shows a few of my favorite things, the bike, the ponds, the green grass and the little red convertible. soon that will be going for a ride!

In Memory

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!””Gone where?”Gone from my sight.
That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!” there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: ‘Here she comes!”
And that is dying.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will. When the road you're trudging seems all uphill. When funds are low and the debts are high. And you want to smile, but you have to sigh. When care is pressing you down a bit. Rest, if you must, but don't you quit Life is queer with its twists and turns. As everyone of us sometimes learns.
