results

Doctor This morning is my appoitment with the pain management doctor. He will have the results back from the tests I did this past week. Hopefully we can figure out what is going with my neck and shoulder. It was bad yesterday. We got a lot of snow yesterday in a short amount of time and the roads were bad. the car in front of me on 80 spun out, and I had to avoid hitting her and she was swerving and spinning all across the two lanes. How she managed to keep it on the road and not roll it over or hit the guard rails is beyone me, but she did it. I'm still in shock that I didn't hit her, and think I really strained and stressed my neck and arm over it. Ended up taking a muscle relaxer shortly after getting to work and another one last night when I got home. I am anxious to hear what the doctor has to say about this.

Something new

Running Tonight I tried something new. Going to try keeping it up too. Tonight I added jogging to my treadmill workout. For about 30 seconds at a time every few minutes. Whew! A good workout. Really good workout. Remind me someday that I am 52 and have had two heart attacks. but not today okay?

Work today really sucked. I did not close one sale. Had a few that seemed promising but no luck. Wrote quotes so hopefully will see them back in on Monday.

Tomorrow John and I are off to Lowe's looking for something new to put on the door in the kitchen. It's a beautiful door but alot of glass. We took off the ugly old blind that was on it and want something that gives us privacy, (it is on the front of the house) but will also allow the door to look nice, and let in light. We re going to check out the decorative film for sidelight windows. It looks beautiful on line.

I'm thinking it may be possible for me to hit my minute goal for the month after all if I don't lose track of it the next few days.

Eliptical

Got a fairly good workout in this morning on the eliptical. Always enjoy that when I don't have to work till noon. Anyway, I did 18 minutes and got a half mile in....getting a bit better on that machine. Cold today, about 10 degrees and blustery, winter is here, darn it. Snowstorm

50/50 drawing

Money 3 well, tomorrow is our first 50/50 drawing. We have about $120. so far and have tomorrow yet to go. Will be doing the drawing about 4:00. that way whoever wins has the money for the weekend.

Our next fundraiser is going to be Valentines day cookies. Homemade ones. Betty volunteered to bake and donate them and there will be a sign up sheet tomorrow at all three stores. We are selling them for $3.00 per dozen. if it goes over well, she will bake something each month. We all like to eat and we are fond of her baked goods so this should work well.

Laura has offered to cook dinner on one Friday and we can sell plates of food for $2.00 a plate and she will do this a few times or we can take turns. It's coming together.

Xray and Mri

Well, this morning I have to up for another mri and an xray on my shoulder. I am getting really tired of this. Monday night I went for the test on the nerves in my arm and parts of that was painful, but all in all not real bad. It took over an hour though. Today is my day off and I am up really early, before 5 am actually. I like getting up early on my days off. It's nice to just have the time to do whatever. this morning, part of my "whatever" is going to be exercising. I have not been down on anything for the past two days. So today I am planning on a few different workout sessions. I miss it and my step count has really been the pitts lately. Put me way behind on my goals for the month.

Am really considering having all my hair chopped off short again too, been trying to let it grow since fall, but am getting tired of it. Brenda will get a good chuckle out of that.

We have $53 in the can at work for the 50/50 drawing. I had to really hustle to get anyone to buy any tickets though and doubt that we will do that again soon. I had originally planned to do that every two weeks, but its not going to work. At least we should have an additional $25 for our team though. I really may call Cassidy today and see why the other members are not showing up on line too.

Make it a great day everyone. Shoveling Snow

veggan out

Computer John just came home from walmart with a new big monitor for the computer along with a wireless keyboard and wireless mouse. Prety cool, we have it all hooked up and this screen looks huge. I'm sitting here in my jammies being a load. I'm trying to do some housework but had to stop and play on here a bit. I'm staying home and in today and not leaving the house. Haven't had a day like that in years. Boy, does it ever feel good to be lazy for a change. Am going to get some stuff done eventually though.

Wheww

Weekend 2 Wheww, what a day yesterday was. 11 hours and no time for lunch and or dinner. My salad sat on my desk opened and I couldn't even grab a bite between customers. Had a great day sale wise, so that beats the heck out of being that busy and not selling anything. A few of my clients came back in so that was nice too, and I think i sold almost everyone I worked with. Am glad to just be off today. I am planning on going down and working out here real soon. Haven't had the chance to do that now for a few days and my minutes for the month are behind again. I think I need some time to just unwind and to compose some thoughts. Too many thngs going on right now and my mind is going in to many directions.

Update

Slots whoa sis, isnt this the coolest?? Wanted to update everyone on Mike tonight, he is getting through this round of chemo just fine. Three of his sisters are out in Arizona with him and he is enjoying their company. The results from his MRI are clear. Thank you God! The doctor didn't have much else to tell him until he has had more treatments. And we do not yet have the dates for his next treatments. Everyone, thank you for your prayers. Home again

Doctor Wow, this site has a smiley for every occasion. LOL! I am scheduled now for an MRI on the shoulder, x ray on the shoulder and some kind of test on the nerves for my left arm and shoulder. The doctor also gave me a different script for the muscle relaxers, says these ones shouldn't make me tired, but I took one and about an hour later took a nap, so we will see.

I haven't heard anything on how Mike is doing today, but he is 3 hours behind us. Hopefully someone will let us know something later on today. I just pray that the chemo is working and he is doing much better.

Doctors

Aerobics Am hoping for some real exercise time today. Didn't get anything in yesterday. Steps for the day were real low too. Need to pick it up a bit. I have the doctors appt this morning, then stopping at walmart to have them look at the car. They did the oil change a week ago and now the change oil light comes on and stays on for a few minutes every time I start it. Need to get some cleaning done too, but really cannot wait to come home, strap on the heart monitor, ipod and bounce around a bit..and ride the bike, and the treadmill and maybe even the eliptical too. Stationary Bike I need to keep busy today, Mike starts back with his chemo today, and he sees his doctor today. A few of his sisters are there with him today and I bet he is very happy to see them all. Hopefully someone will let us know later how he is doing.

New Link

Go Team Hey everyone, wanted to let you know that there is a new link on the left. If you click on the Relay for Life link, it will take you directly to my Relay for Life web page. There really isn't much to see there yet, but hopefully soon it will show donations that have been made etc. Will load the link for the Miller Brothers Team also, but I don't have any of the other members registered yet. Hopefully that will be done shortly.

I'm off tomorrow and have the appt with the neck and back specialist. Hopefully he gets me in and out and I don't have to sit and wait long.

Possible roadblock

Convertible I have to call the ACS tomorrow and see if we need to have a small games of chance license before the store will allow me to put out the 50/50 raffle. I've been researching this on line, but cannot understand half the legalities of it. I called today but the office was closed due to the holiday. I wil call them first thing tomorrow and find out. I have everything already organized for the 50/50 raffle at both stores. We sold some tickets today before they decided to have me check. This will also pertain apparently to the gift basket raffle. I may have to change my thinking on how to do these fundraisers. Darn it all.

Don't you just love this little guy??

Been busy

Rainy I have been on the computer now for what seems like hours. I need to move I have got signs ready for a 50/50 drawing. Made them up with the Relay logo, etc for both my store and the BTR store. I called and left Betty a message to call me. She works at the BTR store and I think will be very willing to be the liason between the two for us.

I bought a large wicker basket to use for the gift basket raffle, and Betty is donating a hand made afghan for that. I also bought a few valentines things for in it, a mini hummingbird feeder and a small bird feeder also. Will take me a while to get everything together for in it. We are planning to chance that off the month of Feb. so I have a bit of time yet.

I want to walk and its raining, think I'm heading for the treadmill and also my weights and Leslie tape. Been sitting to long.

Make it a great day everyone.

Name and Goal

Relay Team name is "Miller Brothers Pavement Pounding Posse" and was unanimous by the people who voted. Everyone seemed to like it although some of them wanted the MB name left off. I chose to include it and feel it was the best thing to do. The store is being great about letting us do the fundraisers, donating items, giving employees time off to walk, etc. It seems only fair to include them in it.

We need to have a goal and I need the rest of the registration forms returned before I can get us registered. I'm considering $5000 as a goal. I don't want it so high that we are defeated with it, but do not want it so low that it is not a stretch. We have 16 people, but I think we are losing one. I believe the Punxsy walk is the same day as the Dubois one and in that case I'll lose Greg. I just found that date on line last night, so will talk to Greg Monday at work. His wife does one in Punxsy and he walks with her, but we thought it was different dates. I have given the team to this coming Friday to return their forms, and do have a few of them back.

It's Sunday and I am trying to decide when to do what. Seems there is so much I am behind on. With doctors and therapy the past few days off everything is behind. I want to get the basket, tickets, etc for the raffle and think we're going to do a 50/50 raffle for the next few weeks too and see how that goes over.

Make it a great day everyone! Go Team

Names and Registrations

Famous 2 WE've got three registration forms returned so far with registration $$'s. WE now have a team of 15, pretty well mixed between the males and females, so should be very interesting.

A few names have been suggested such as the Rockin Rustlers, the Chuckwagon Gang and my personal favorite, The Pavement Pounding Posse. Will send them out to the team come Monday and see what the favorite is with them.

Betty has volunteered an afghan for the raffle basket, thought that was darn nice of her, so that is coming together too and think I may take a run to town on Sunday and see what I can find to get that started. Am going to need a really big basket. Everyone seemed to think that was a good idea and can make it work. Hopefully we will get a good start on the fundraising with this.

Raffle

Coffee Drinker Going to be using the blog as a forum, I see. Please add any comments or ideas you may have for me. I'm in the process of working through a raffle, using a gift basket full of products, such as bubble bath, hand cream, candles, a pedometer, hopefully a gift certificate or two etc..am going to try to get this put together for the month of February. Am figuring once its done, I can take a picture, make a list of the products and get copies to those who are further away and cannot see the actual product. Can also post it on here for anyone to see. Please either email me or post your comments or ideas here. thanks!

First Donation

Walking We gained a few new team members today. That puts us up to 11 members. I'm happy with that and with the rate that we are gaining them. Now if we can get their registration forms and dollars back, we'll be in good shape. I asked for them by the 19th. that way I can get the team registered and we will be official.

It was sure nice to come home from work tonight and have a check here. Our very first donation. I'm trying to improve my step count. I will be walking during the 24 hour relay whenever no one else is. Tonight I paced, marched, hip hopped whatever you want to call it, during the entire Gray's Anatomy show. It worked to add steps to my count.

Tomorrow its back for therapy, the last time until after I see the pain doctor on Wed. I really do not want shots in my neck. Yuck, just the thought of it makes me cringe.

I'm walkin

Treadmill I've decided that I really need to improve my stepping before the big relay day. I've been below my goal of 15,000 daily lately due to being sick, the accident etc. Need to work on getting it back up there. Think next week, my goal will be 16,000 daily and the week after 17,000 daily.. Lets give that a try.

Snow

Snowstorm We've got snow..cold and snow. Not unusual at all for this time of year in Pa. But this year has been so much nicer and we are all spoiled. Just back from therapy and need to eat and take a break.

Winter has arrived.

Frosty A light snow falling and a chilly 27 degrees here this morning. Would be an excellent day to stay home and just goof off, but not a chance. Working days today. Which is kind of nice cause now I'll be getting out at 5 instead of 8 and am off tomorrow. I go for my second physical therapy tomorrow morning. That should make for a lazy day, it makes me relaxed and tired when its over with.

I'm trying to come up with a good goal for the relay..a goal as concerning how many hours I want to plan to walk. I know its kind of hard to figure because I'll be covering the hours when no one else can walk, but so far we have 8 people on the team. We are not allowed more than 15 and we have to cover the track for 24 hours. One of the ladies I talk to on spark is walking in hers and her goal is to walk for 24 hours. I don't quite see me doing that.

Elk

My buddy, Scott, emailed me this picture of the elk in his yard. He lives about 6 miles from here. This is where I have seen them a few days this past month. At the one time there were about 40 of them there. They did a tremendous amount of damage to his yard and to his Christmas decorations.
We have two new members on the Relay team. Susan and Betty have both joined us now also. We are getting there. I handed out registration forms today with notes asking for them back by the 19th. I would really like to get this team registered.

New team members

Treadmill okay loved this! We've got new team members today. Another one of the sales guys from the store has joined the team, which gives us a total of 6 from the store and 7 counting my sister who has either volunteered or was drafted. Either way I'm pretty sure we can count on her to be there and to help out. Cher will be a real big help with this, she has done this in the past and has alot of great ideas. Plus she is quite a bit more creative than I am.

I sure do hope this smiley guy on the treadmill comes through on the blog. Not quite the same as the beautiful backgrounds but it adds to it .

Ok? or not?

Big Hug I ended up taking the other program off the computer because it was goofing things up. Installed one that worked for email but not for blogger...so now have 2 new ones on here..Hopefully this works. I sure do miss the pretty backgrounds that were available with the other program though.

Enjoy the day everyone!

Relay Team

Our team is getting started, consists so far of about 5 other people not including myself. That was as of early this morning and I never had the time to recheck my email and see if anyone else had responded. I had a meeting with Pam and the store will allow us to sell the placards there in March and hang them on the windows. I also talked to Jess and he will donate one piece of furniture within reason, such as an accent piece from Steinworld or a rocker recliner for us to raffle off. We are getting some good ideas and need a name. I had suggested the M.B. Rockin Walkers. But do think once we have the team formed we should all vote on that. I am excited and just want to be able to do a wonderful job of this.

Relay for Life

I am just so excited. Mary stopped at the store tonight and dropped off the package for the Relay for Life. I checked with some of my fellow coworkers who are all telling me they think its a great idea and will be very willing to help out in any way. I am putting an email out at work tomorrow to everyone who has email and we'll see what happens. We are supposed to keep between 8 to 15 people in our teams. They suggest if we have more than that to have two teams.

I downloaded a new program to the computer tonight for the email, but see that it opened the tool bar here on blogger so am trying it here also. I will absolutely love this if it works.

Relay for Life

Finally, I was able to get some information on the Relay for Life. For those of you who don't know I am trying to get Relay team up and going for Dubois this summer. I was beginning to feel like my hands were tied after 4 phone calls and no results, no return calls, etc. This morning, on my mothers advice I called the Dubois Area Chamber of Commerce, and talked to a wonderful woman who gave me a contact number to call locally. I now have some of the info I need and a packet should be arriving soon.

Everyone, please be aware, I will be asking for walkers and donations. The teams consist of 8 to 15 people. Any takers?

Make it a great day everyone!

Fireplace

Thought this was a pretty neat picture. John took it of the fireplace in the basement.
A day off today and lots of running. have a hair appt, blood work, and first time at Physical therapy for the neck. Not looking forward to that.
I still haven't heard from the American Cancer Society about the Relay for Life in Dubois. I want to start a team at the store and do this if there is enough time left and if I can find out how to go about it.
Make it a great day everyone. Oh! I'm going to be adding my step count ytd here
It will look like this 12942/31719 the first number is for what I did that day and the second is year to date. Would like to see how far I walk in a year.
