Our elk

Imagine my excitement to look out our living room window yesterday morning and see this magnificent creature RIGHT THERE! I have been waiting patiently for one of these animals to show up during daylight hours and finally there he was. I grabbed the new little digital camera and started snapping pictures right and left. John grabbed the big digital and thank God he did. I have never heard of a scan card being corrupt but apparently that is what happened and the pictures on the little camera are gone. Just vanished! Never to be seen again apparently. I am so grateful that we at least have these few pictures. Our elk in the back yard. he was so close to the house that if you look closely you can actually see my clothes line. I want those antlers. Oh boy! How badly I want those antlers.

In Memory

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!””Gone where?”Gone from my sight.
That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!” there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: ‘Here she comes!”
And that is dying.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will. When the road you're trudging seems all uphill. When funds are low and the debts are high. And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
