Two years

Happy anniversary to our home! Two years ago, December 3, we moved in here. I remember working at the jewelry store and working from open to close and trying to move. I wasn't much help. John ended up doing most of it. But here we are.

We went Christmas shopping a bit today. Not for long, I am more stiff and sore than I realised and after a few hours I was really hurting and we came home. I am back into my jammies, with neck brace on and took a pain pill upon walking back in the door. Hopefully tomorrow goes better when I am back at work. I see the doctor tomorrow at 4, so am only working until about 3.

In Memory

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!””Gone where?”Gone from my sight.
That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!” there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: ‘Here she comes!”
And that is dying.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will. When the road you're trudging seems all uphill. When funds are low and the debts are high. And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
