Avocados

Have you ever eaten an avocado? I haven't until just recently. I find that sad. While hearing about the Flat Belly Diet I did a bit of reading and found that they recommend mufa's which is healthy fats. Of which avocado is one, so I tried it. I have found that I absolutley love them in salads.

How terrible that it took me so many years to realise this and that I didn't teach my kids better. Lunch today was two bowls of salad and a bowl of fresh fruit. Tish's guy brought us lunch and it was delicious. Dinner tonight at home was another salad, this one with avocado. How did we ever survive so many years without eating healthy? I much prefer the healthy foods over the junk food anymore. Oh, not that we ate all junk, we ate fairly well, but it seems that I am still learning and wish I would have known all this years ago.

Winter in Pennsylvania.

I received this little poem via email today, wanted to share it with you all. Hope you enjoy it and hope your somewhere warm. That is not Pa!

It's winter in Pennsylvania and the gentle breezes blow, Thirty freaking miles an hour at twenty-five below.
Oh, how I love Pennsylvania when the snow's up to your butt,
You take a breath of winter and your nose gets frozen shut!!
Yes, the weather here is wonderful so I guess I'll hang around,
I could never leave Pennsylvania because I'm frozen to the ground!

Remodel

The bathroom remodel has been going along very smoothly up until yesterday. I hope this is not going to set it back or be a problem. When I got home from work last night about 9 pm I, of course, went in to see what had been accomplished. I kept looking at everything, it looks very beautiful even with the paint being wrong, which is another story, however something kept bugging me. I kept going back in and standing there and looking. Finally, I realised, some of the tiles are upside down. WE had porcelain tiles done on the bottom half and in the entire shower/bath area. There is a border tile around the top, which is smaller, narrow and has an ivy leaf pattern. The patterns don't match up in a few places. Ray has some upside down. This would probably not be a problem on the top ones, but in the shower area they are in the middle with other tiles yet on top. I am hoping it can be easily corrected, they are not grouted yet but are of course cemented in. We didn't order extras, they are ordered by the piece and if they break coming out it could screw us up for days I am sure. I am really hoping it is something that can be corrected easily.

On to the paint story, I love the color, so does my husband and the contractors. It is not the color I picked. I tried hard to find one that would match both the countertops and the tiles, its like two seperate rooms. I settled on a real pretty "brandied pears" from Lowes, which is not what I got, this has yellow in it. The Brandied Pears didn't. However, it is subtle and muted enough that it should still be very pretty in there.

Countertops are supposed to be coming today and I have my laundry room back as of last night! Its moving right along, now if we can fix those tiles it will be awesome.

I'm up early this morning, forgot how to sleep in, but the guys should be here by 9 anyways.

Dangerous Chocolate Cake

I received this in an email from a friend and decided to share it here. I haven't tried it, but probably will.

A RECIPE EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW
The most dangerous cake recipe 5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional) a small splash of vanilla extract 1 large coffee mug Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high). The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired. EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous). And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night! You are going to print this out straight away, aren't you

Its a mess

Well, the house is a mess. Need to post some pictures. We have a new whirlpool tub sitting in the box in our living room, a new toilet is out back on the porch. The old tub is in the carport and the old toilet is on the back sidewalk. The washer and dryer are sitting in my den. Are you getting the picture here? Hopefully, this will be done very very shortly. It is going quickly, so it may not be too bad, but boy, do I hate seeing the house look like this. I actually ran the swiffer through here tonight, for all the good that did, but at least it got some of the white sand off the wood floors. I really don't deal well with mess and chaos.

It is going to be nice to have this done, and I guess it needed to be done, but..

In the meantime we are downstairs to use the bathroom, think I made 7 trips up and down those steps today, I'm counting it for my cardio today! LOL

Heart Attack

T., a young lady at work lost her mother this week. T is 25 years old, her mom was 47, she had a heart attack after running the snowblower. T didn't know her mom had been having a few problems and had been at the hospital 3 weeks earlier with a problem. T is an only child and is now dealing with losing her mom at such an early age and taking care of the things that need to be done to help her dad. While out for a walk today, I got thinking about this and how life is. I once again find myself wondering why was I spared twice? Twice I had a heart attack, was life flighted to a major hospital, spent weeks and once a month there to find out what caused it. Thank God that they found the problem and were able to correct it. However, it sometimes makes me feel like there is something I should be doing. Some reason I was spared, something I need to do or finish, or someone I need to help. Maybe someday I will know what i am supposed to be doing. In the meantime I am going to continue to try to help people get healthier and to continue on that journey myself

Resolutions

I know its a bit late but I came up with a few resolutions today. I ordered a new workout dvd, ordered crunchless abs. It looks fascinating and like one that once you learn the moves you can do anywhere, anytime without any props or any crunches. I like that idea. It is however, going to be my last workout dvd until at least Sept. I have bunches of them, not to sure how many but I don't use them all the time, I use workout equipment often also. During the summer, I will do them even less often, so no knew ones now until fall. Also, I ordered today the prevention book Flat Belly Diet, and the calender and journal. So, one of my resolutions is no more health books, etc until Sept also. That should make that one easy. I don' tneed any more exercise clothes either so count that in there too. I should make it a resolution to keep out of GNC, but I don't have that kind of willpower, I love my supreme foods, protein powder and vitamins. This is a start though. Now, I just can't wait for the dvd, book, and calender to get here. I am impatient when waiting for things to arrive

Ok, add these to my resolutions. LOL I will not buy any more teas until I finish up most of what I have. I have an abundance of different types of teas.
I will not buy any more hair care products until I finish up most of what I have. I also have an abundance of different hair products.
I will not buy any more body lotions until I finish up most of what I have.
I will eat a yogurt a day, drink a glass of milk a day and eat one light string cheese a day, this is addition to my calcium.
Remember, USE IT UP, WEAR IT OUT, MAKE IT DO, OR DO WITHOUT
