A real good day

Had a real good day at work today for one that started off so lousy. First off I overslept, didn't want to get up for anything. Then couldn't sell anything for the life of me. Ended up giving out quote after quote. Then this afternoon everything turned around and one lady came back in to buy, while she was there one man from Saturday came in ready to purchase and later this afternoon another couple. So, all in all a very good day. Ended up being with the couple till an hour after quitting time, but when I figured out what I made on that sale I figured it was well worth it.

Mom and Cher are at bingo tonight I'm guessing, and my dear brother in law, Jeff, left a comment on the blog..first one, pretty neat. Think the other one is from my friend, Lynn, on Sparkpeople.

Finally

Think I finally did it, think there is actually a picture on the profile..took me long enough to figure that out. I hate being so stupid with computers. Today was a day off and a good one. I don't know why I think I need to be busy every minute of the day anymore, but it seems to be what I do. I remember years gone by when I would nap and wouldn't wake up for hours...thats an impossiblitly anymore. don't even sleep good at night.

The zinnias are doing beautifully out back and think thats going to be one flower that we keep in the back garden. Along with the marigolds. The climbing rose bush flowered too, I took pictures of that today. Will post it once there developed if they turn out. Think I'm going to start saving and see about gettting a digital camera.

Picture of the mink.

Thanks to my neighbor Peggy, we now have a picture of the mink. It was in her backyard this afternoon. Pretty little guy isn't he, but he better not eat my fish!

Waterlily

This is a picture of the water lily in one of our little ponds. The first time they've bloomed. They are really unusual in the fact that they open up in the sunlight and close back up tight in the evening. They reopen again the next day. I've had a few of them flower this year but this was the first.

Pheo

I am doing this post now because a lady that I have talked to on Sparkpeople web site has questioned me on a pheo. She and her family have gone through numerous endocrine tumors and she has lost a son due to one. Also a friend of mine has a son who they are trying to diagnose with an illness and they are considering an adrenal tumor. We live in a very small town in Pa. When I got sick very suddenly one night I ended up going to the emergency room, throwing up, shaking, cold, sweating, pain like I have never felt in my life, etc. they lifelflighted me to UPMC in Pittsburgh. After they put me in a medically induced coma for 7 days with tubes everywhere and test after test they diagnosed a heart attack brought on by pnuemonia. My lungs wre filled with fluid that wasn't actually pneumonia but they weren't sure what else it was. 3 months later in July it all happened again and I was lifeflighted again to UPMC. This was after being on all kind of heart meds, pills for low blood pressure, cholesterol etc. This time i I had a team of the best docs anywhere, the cardiologist ran test after test and kept probing, he told me the first day that it was not pneumonia and he didn't know what it was but I wasn't leaving until he knew..they kept me 23 days. The cardiologist is actually the one who found the tumor. The endocrine doc didn't really believe it aft first because my symptoms weren't right...I had low blood pressure and hypothroidism, usually its high blood pressure and hyperthroid with these tumors. My low blood pressure etc, gave them another set of problems to work out. They stabilized me and got the tumor out after 23 days there. I have to be recehecked every 6 months. So far so good. My tests are scheuduled again for August and I go back to UPMC in Sept. My cardiologist was voted the best in the area and I was on the evening news in Pitts to do an interview for him, that was neat, then they wrote my story up in the upmc health magazine and the medical books. It still all comes back to haunt me sometimes..that first night when I was deathly sick I was home alone, and was sick the entire night before I went to the hospital, they told me that only thing that saved me was that I had taken an aspirin. I still remember that pain and how terrified I was.

Yep, its a mink

John saw the animal that I thought was a mink and it is. It was down by the porch tonight around 7:10 pm. I saw it up by the big pond last week. Just hope it doesn't eat my fish.

Furniture

The new bedding for the spare room and the credenza get here this morning. Am darn glad because I am sitting on the floor typing this as we speak. It is not a fun, comfortable way to use the computer. It is nice working at a furniture store with just having bought a new house. I am hopefully about done buying furniture however. And moving furniture. Last night john and I carried the old desk downstairs..thats where the desk was when we bought the house, and we brought it up and moved it a few times..its a very heavy wood desk. Now its back downstairs and the new credenza arrives today. I hope it looks as nice in here as I think its going to. I hope it gets here early enough that I have time to organize stuff before leaving for work. I work noon to 8 today.

Wedding Day

This is us on our wedding day, August 24, 2004. I am trying to post this picture to my profile. Not to sure i can get it to work, but going to give it a try.

Losing the weight

I'm down to 112.8 this morning. I've been trying for this past year to lose the weight I gained while working at the jewelry store and being in the hospital last summer. I've been using sparkpeople.com and its a wonderful site. When I started with them May 1, 06 I weighed 118. I had been up to 124 even before that. So I'm pretty pleased with this loss. My goal for right now is 110, but think I'll be going down to 100 eventually. thats the recommended weight for my height.

We planted a trumpet vine yesterday under the garden arch and a really beautiful bright red echinacea. Hopefully they both grow. I am trying to get more perennials in over between the drives.

New house in Weedville

This is our new home in Weedville, Pa. I love it here. We bought this house in Dec. 04 just months after getting married. The backyard is just as big as the front and alot of privacy. We have ponds and will post pictures of them soon. Am glad that I am able to post pictures on here, for some reason that would not work the other day.

Old house

This is a picture of me from about 3 years ago in my old backyard. You can see the flowers and Michelles little tree, she won that tree for reading when she was about 9 years old. Our new yard makes this one look about the size of tablecloth.

Gardens

I'm still trying to learn how to get pictures on here, it just isn't working for me for some reason. I would like to have pictures of our gardens on here. John's vegetable garden is doing fabulous, but for some reason we have no cucumbers yet and not to sure we will.

Our flower gardens are slow and not real pretty this year. I need to remember next year that in our back bed the marigolds, geraniums, and snapdragons did real well. Snapdragons did not grow out front well at all. The impatiens under the tree didn't do well either and I think next year that will be done with marigolds, in fact may do marigolds all over out front, they would be pretty in with the stella doro day lilies and they are doing well in there.

I have a day off from work today and just did a 4 mile ride on the stationary bike, I really enjoy having that out on the deck. John and I got my new rebounder put together last night and that is going out back also. I can rebound in 5 minute segments while doing whatever outside. It's a nice little one that I can carry in and out and back and forth, it can go anywhere and I still have my bigger one downstairs.

Mink

I think we have a mink up by the big pond. I walked up the other night and saw something black, thought it was a cat. On closer look though, it wasn't. Had a face like a possum and a hump on its back. I checked enature.com and really do think it was a mink. It will eat fish..and is mainly a nocturnal creature. Hope it moves on quickly and leaves the fish alone. I've sure had my handsfull keeping those fish in those ponds. The net is still over it to keep the kingfisher away. And I will be leaving the net up till snowfalls.

First post

Well, I don't know how much I'll use this. New at this, but read Rich's blog (from SP) and thought I'd give it a try. Would like to have a place to use as a journal on line, and keep track of things. Hopefully I find that this is easy to use and enjoy keeping it. I'd like to track the flowers and what garden they are in, the animals and birds in the area, along with all my weight loss efforts also. Will use this for my own satisfaction much more than anyone elses.
