Chapter 1, Scope of the Personal Trainer

Direct Quote from Chapter 1 of the manual "Understanding the ACE-certified Personal Trainer’s scope of practice can be empowering, as it defines a unique profession dedicated to helping people improve their fitness, health, and quality of life through physical activity. Many of the professions in healthcare are devoted to treating disease, while a personal trainer primarily helps people avoid disease. In a society where almost two-thirds of the adult population is overweight and physically inactive, and youth are projected to possibly live shorter lives than their parents, the role that ACE-certified Personal Trainers play in the healthcare continuum has never been more important."

ACEFitness Cert

Woo Hoo, I am so excited. I have been considering this again for the longest time, but I just enrolled with ACE Fitness to complete my Certification as Personal Trainer. For those that know me, this was my goal before buying the Curves Franchise and I had been working towards it. Owning and managing the business had put that dream on hold for a bit, however, I can only imagine how much more capable I will be of helping our ladies get healthy, fit and strong with all of this information at our fingertips. It seems no matter what I do, I keep coming back to this. So once again I am reaching to achieve another goal. Ya know, when you keep coming back to something I think it is probably God's way of letting us know we are supposed to be doing it. So, within the next year or so, my signature line should read Health and Happiness, Peggi Curves Owner/Manager ACE Fitness, CPT —

Random thoughts

I could wake up at 4:30 Mon, Tues and Thursday and get my workout in before work. those days I don't get one in, its too busy once I get to the club. If I want to change my body, I need to change my habits. I could keep studying my ACE book and then when ready, maybe come fall, pay for the class and be that much further ahead. I really want that certification and think I like the ACE better than the NCSF. However, I have both books, just not the time to read and study. Need to make that a priority also. Need more time to work with the business too, we have had so many changes lately and I keep trying to learn all that but its taking away from building the membership and the contact with the members. Hmm, these all fit into my top goals. Maybe I better get back to work on the push challenge.

Mothers Day

Wish I knew for sure. I keep looking at this picture. They are trying to save Conneaut Lake Park. We spent so much time there when the kids were young. We would go at least once a summer for a few years. Mikes family met us there often. Good times. Took mom and Cheri to Country Cupboard yesterday, what a great day. I am planting a fairy garden. Have to find a perfect spot for it and am thinking up by the gazebo. Woke up to sunshine this morning, just love it.

Motivation quote

"I've come to believe that each of us has a personal calling that's as unique as a fingerprint - and that the best way to succeed is to discover what you love and then find a way to offer it to others in the form of service, working hard, and also allowing the energy of the universe to lead you." -- Oprah Winfrey, Talk Show Host

1/1/2013 Happy New Year

1/1/2013 Tuesday, January 01, 2013 I love firsts, the first new day of the week, the month and especially the New Year. I love setting goals on the first new day of the week, the month and the New Year. Here are my goals for this first day of 2013. Still number one is to build my business. 300 to 400 members at the club this year. Less clutter-More organized. Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without. Lose weight, body fat and belly. Weigh 110, body fat under 25% this year. Financially secure and able to retire within years.Amp up savings. Curves Smart installed at the club Run one complete time around the track. More free time with family on vacation. Read the bible. Those are my main goals for this new year. I have the two biggies, build the business and lose weight, body fat and belly broke down into baby steps how to get there. These goals will be written out weekly in my planner under the goal list and may possibly change as goals sometimes do. Some will be accomplished, the list will be added to and is an on going project always with me.

6 or 7 months CPT

If I could study one chapter a week, learn one chapter per week, really know it do the labs, read the guide, answer the questions. Really know it, one chapter per week, I would be able to take the test in about 6 or 7 months. I have been putting this off since buying the club. everything always seems to get in the way. This is still a goal for me. I need to make it a priority. Wish there was a class close by that I could take a few days and be done with it, but I checked again and there is nothing scheduled close by.

My new goals include to clean out one drawer, closet, shelf, thing, etc daily. Started today with my jewelry box, the wooden one on my dresser, Got rid of tons of junk. Felt great. Enjoying the day. John is at camp, I am home and off. Christmas music is playing on sirius. Snow is falling gently and i am enjoying time off and here alone. Cher and I went for our second annual Black Friday shopping trip yesterday. Had a blast. We were both so excited, neither of us slept the night before. Gone about 12 hours. Lots of gifts bought.

CLX

Wonder why we do the things we do sometimes? Perfect example, I love my Chalene Extreme Workouts. Haven't done them all summer. Hate being in the basement when it is nice outside. Went down this morning and got a workout done. Loved it!! Felt so great, however, I had to start over with 5,8 and 10 pounds. Wasn't quite up to the 12 and 15 that I was at last winter. However, don't think its going to take long to get back to it. Felt much stronger. I'm working on my goals for the new year already. Know its a while off, but seems like I always start thinking that way about now.

Time

I really need to quit killing time and surfing the web at night. I should be studying. I really want that Certification as Personal Trainer. I could be using this time at night to read and learn and make plans to take that test. I have accomplished two goals for the club. I ordered the stepper today and the Curves Smart is coming from a closing club next month. These were two goals ever since I bought the club. Certified Personal Trainer should be the next goal to knock off, think of what an impact that would make. Think of being able to advertise that and what all i could do with it. Today, when Clark dropped off my car he made that comment that he works with a personal trainer..and yesterday when Dana quit and we talked I could have said I am a Personal Trainer, it would hold weight. Okay, getting off here and studying a bit.

Decision

I have made a decision. I have decided that yes, even though I now own Curves, I do still want to be Certified Personal Trainer. I have been so back and forth on this for the past two years. To study or not to study? To find the time or not? To make the time or not? A goal or not? I think I have finally decided that yes, this is what I want to do. I had been considering just studying the nutrition part, which is the biggie for the ladies at the club, however, why not just do it? So, here is my plan. To continue to study my training material, to do the work, the video's the labs, the study guide in order and then to watch for a 3 day workshop somewhere in the area in relatively close location, not in the winter. And to get registered for it. I AM going to do this!

Still trying to think if I want Curves Smart at the club. Think I would really like to add this but the price is high.

Good morning

Well, again its been a while since I have been on here. Life gets strange and busy sometimes. The turtles are gone, both of them and I refuse to buy another one. think that is 4 or 5 that have now gone away. I hope someday they just decide to come home, but in the meantime I don't have any. I started my day out a bit early today, wrote out my list of goals and ways to achieve them and did my ab exercises first thing. Felt great. Also took some time to read Joel Osteen, Your best life yet book that I bought quite a few years ago. I always love reading that kind of stuff and have a few I want to get through. I have so many goals and dreams that I want to accomplish but mostly the same thing. Lose the weight, the body and belly fat, grow the club, Certified Personal Trainer?? That last one I am so undecided about. I have wanted it and started it so many times, I think it would help me help women but yet a nutrition degree seems more helpful, however, this one i have the books on and it covers so much of it. The smart thing would be to finish what i have started and carry on with it. Now I have to have 6 CEC each year to stay Cleveland Clinic Certified. I have a webinar on Wed to give me those credits for this year. Should be interesting.
