Something new
Tonight I tried something new. Going to try keeping it up too. Tonight I added jogging to my treadmill workout. For about 30 seconds at a time every few minutes. Whew! A good workout. Really good workout. Remind me someday that I am 52 and have had two heart attacks. but not today okay?
Work today really sucked. I did not close one sale. Had a few that seemed promising but no luck. Wrote quotes so hopefully will see them back in on Monday.
Tomorrow John and I are off to Lowe's looking for something new to put on the door in the kitchen. It's a beautiful door but alot of glass. We took off the ugly old blind that was on it and want something that gives us privacy, (it is on the front of the house) but will also allow the door to look nice, and let in light. We re going to check out the decorative film for sidelight windows. It looks beautiful on line.
I'm thinking it may be possible for me to hit my minute goal for the month after all if I don't lose track of it the next few days.

50/50 drawing
Our next fundraiser is going to be Valentines day cookies. Homemade ones. Betty volunteered to bake and donate them and there will be a sign up sheet tomorrow at all three stores. We are selling them for $3.00 per dozen. if it goes over well, she will bake something each month. We all like to eat and we are fond of her baked goods so this should work well.
Laura has offered to cook dinner on one Friday and we can sell plates of food for $2.00 a plate and she will do this a few times or we can take turns. It's coming together.

Xray and Mri
Am really considering having all my hair chopped off short again too, been trying to let it grow since fall, but am getting tired of it. Brenda will get a good chuckle out of that.
We have $53 in the can at work for the 50/50 drawing. I had to really hustle to get anyone to buy any tickets though and doubt that we will do that again soon. I had originally planned to do that every two weeks, but its not going to work. At least we should have an additional $25 for our team though. I really may call Cassidy today and see why the other members are not showing up on line too.
Make it a great day everyone.

Home again
I haven't heard anything on how Mike is doing today, but he is 3 hours behind us. Hopefully someone will let us know something later on today. I just pray that the chemo is working and he is doing much better.

Been busy
I have been on the computer now for what seems like hours. I need to move I have got signs ready for a 50/50 drawing. Made them up with the Relay logo, etc for both my store and the BTR store. I called and left Betty a message to call me. She works at the BTR store and I think will be very willing to be the liason between the two for us.
I bought a large wicker basket to use for the gift basket raffle, and Betty is donating a hand made afghan for that. I also bought a few valentines things for in it, a mini hummingbird feeder and a small bird feeder also. Will take me a while to get everything together for in it. We are planning to chance that off the month of Feb. so I have a bit of time yet.
I want to walk and its raining, think I'm heading for the treadmill and also my weights and Leslie tape. Been sitting to long.
Make it a great day everyone.
Name and Goal
We need to have a goal and I need the rest of the registration forms returned before I can get us registered. I'm considering $5000 as a goal. I don't want it so high that we are defeated with it, but do not want it so low that it is not a stretch. We have 16 people, but I think we are losing one. I believe the Punxsy walk is the same day as the Dubois one and in that case I'll lose Greg. I just found that date on line last night, so will talk to Greg Monday at work. His wife does one in Punxsy and he walks with her, but we thought it was different dates. I have given the team to this coming Friday to return their forms, and do have a few of them back.
It's Sunday and I am trying to decide when to do what. Seems there is so much I am behind on. With doctors and therapy the past few days off everything is behind. I want to get the basket, tickets, etc for the raffle and think we're going to do a 50/50 raffle for the next few weeks too and see how that goes over.
Make it a great day everyone!

Names and Registrations
A few names have been suggested such as the Rockin Rustlers, the Chuckwagon Gang and my personal favorite, The Pavement Pounding Posse. Will send them out to the team come Monday and see what the favorite is with them.
Betty has volunteered an afghan for the raffle basket, thought that was darn nice of her, so that is coming together too and think I may take a run to town on Sunday and see what I can find to get that started. Am going to need a really big basket. Everyone seemed to think that was a good idea and can make it work. Hopefully we will get a good start on the fundraising with this.

First Donation
We gained a few new team members today. That puts us up to 11 members. I'm happy with that and with the rate that we are gaining them. Now if we can get their registration forms and dollars back, we'll be in good shape. I asked for them by the 19th. that way I can get the team registered and we will be official.
It was sure nice to come home from work tonight and have a check here. Our very first donation. I'm trying to improve my step count. I will be walking during the 24 hour relay whenever no one else is. Tonight I paced, marched, hip hopped whatever you want to call it, during the entire Gray's Anatomy show. It worked to add steps to my count.
Tomorrow its back for therapy, the last time until after I see the pain doctor on Wed. I really do not want shots in my neck. Yuck, just the thought of it makes me cringe.

Snow
Tuesday, January 09, 2007
Winter has arrived.
A light snow falling and a chilly 27 degrees here this morning. Would be an excellent day to stay home and just goof off, but not a chance. Working days today. Which is kind of nice cause now I'll be getting out at 5 instead of 8 and am off tomorrow. I go for my second physical therapy tomorrow morning. That should make for a lazy day, it makes me relaxed and tired when its over with.
I'm trying to come up with a good goal for the relay..a goal as concerning how many hours I want to plan to walk. I know its kind of hard to figure because I'll be covering the hours when no one else can walk, but so far we have 8 people on the team. We are not allowed more than 15 and we have to cover the track for 24 hours. One of the ladies I talk to on spark is walking in hers and her goal is to walk for 24 hours. I don't quite see me doing that.

Relay Team
Our team is getting started, consists so far of about 5 other people not including myself. That was as of early this morning and I never had the time to recheck my email and see if anyone else had responded. I had a meeting with Pam and the store will allow us to sell the placards there in March and hang them on the windows. I also talked to Jess and he will donate one piece of furniture within reason, such as an accent piece from Steinworld or a rocker recliner for us to raffle off. We are getting some good ideas and need a name. I had suggested the M.B. Rockin Walkers. But do think once we have the team formed we should all vote on that. I am excited and just want to be able to do a wonderful job of this. |

Relay for Life
I am just so excited. Mary stopped at the store tonight and dropped off the package for the Relay for Life. I checked with some of my fellow coworkers who are all telling me they think its a great idea and will be very willing to help out in any way. I am putting an email out at work tomorrow to everyone who has email and we'll see what happens. We are supposed to keep between 8 to 15 people in our teams. They suggest if we have more than that to have two teams. I downloaded a new program to the computer tonight for the email, but see that it opened the tool bar here on blogger so am trying it here also. I will absolutely love this if it works. |
Relay for Life
Everyone, please be aware, I will be asking for walkers and donations. The teams consist of 8 to 15 people. Any takers?
Make it a great day everyone!
